***CSI - Color Stories Inspiration #236***

It's time for the 2nd case file of August!

Here is Case file #236!

And here is my interpretation of the case file....

I used all five colours from the scheme.

Evidence used:

* stripes, polka dots - loosely interpreted with the river stones stencil and the postmark stripes on BG Paper
* wet medium - texture paste with the stencil
* nautical elements - die cuts of crabs, seahorses, lighthouses
* fish birds animals - seahorses, crabs, fish on BG paper
* scallops, wave shape - die cut of waves, scallop beige ribbon, edge to white lace die cut
* twine , jute, string - burlap strip, burlap decorative twine ribbon

Testimony used:

* Document an adventure

Now for some of the little details.....

The die cuts, including the seahorses, anchor, crabs and lighthouses, I dabbed with clear rock candy crackle paint to add some texture and substance to the otherwise flat paper shape.

I love this natural moss and I use it in nearly every 'seaside' themed layout. It does look like seaweed!
Here you can see the 'wave' die on the bottom of the photo and the text where I have incorporated the 'red' from the colour scheme.

The burlap decorative twine ribbon is slotted behind the lighthouse with a pale blue 'ribbon' die.
My background paper edges and the papers used in the layers were all distressed.

I used a couple of dies under my paper layers, one a white lace die from Sue Wilson, this had the scallop edge to it and then the bubbles die in the blue colour, I thought the bubbles worked quite well in a 'water' theme. The chipboard I simply painted with the picket fence crackle paint and then went over in place with the frayed burlap crackle paint to blend them with my papers and photo.

Here you can see the burlap strip with frayed edges and the beige scalloped ribbon with the strips from the postmark on the background paper.

I love this 'river stone' stencil from Dusty Attic and used it here coming out from under my layers mimicking the rocks and pebbles that were all around us on the beach.

This was our adventure, taking the nets down to the rock pools and seashore in Pembrokeshire. The kids were so excited to try and catch something, anything, even seaweed was a major find in the mind of a couple of trepid explorers!

***Lets Get Sketchy Aug 1st Challenge***

It's August!
Another month gone and summer is in full swing, my children are now on their summer holidays from school. I have been thinking of all sorts of crafty things I can do with my daughter who loves crafty activities, not so my son!

It's  now time for the August 1st challenge at Let's Get Sketchy! This challenge not only has a sketch but we have a mood board too and a masculine theme going on with it!

Here is my layout.....

And here is the sketch and mood board....

I was inspired with the bright blues, greens and red from the mood board.

My patterned papers are a mix between to different paper lines.
I have user Kaisercraft Class Act and BoBunny Welcome Home paper collections.

I added the polaroid and stars die cuts as my main feature points.

And brads and jump rings as smaller details. All my paper edges have been inked with distress ink.

On my background I splattered with some mists.

My title is created from some wood scrabble tiles.

The photo is mounted on some red PP from the Class Act collection and my journaling card is just slotted underneath this layer.

I used a stapler to fix all my layers together which also adds more detail and great for a masculine page. I also used eyelets in the corners of the layout and little wood pegs on the photos.

***CSI - Case File 235***

Its time for another case file here at CSI - Color Stories Inspiration!

It the start of the month so we have a major case file with a sketch for your interpretation as well.

Here is how I solved the case file....

Here is the case file with

the sketch....

I used all the colours from the scheme.

My Evidence used was:

* Solid white background
* polka dots - mist dots
* flowers
* wet medium - texture paste

My testimony used was:

* Topic: girlfriends

I have used Maja Design papers on this layout with the white cardstock background.
To get a fresh modern feel to the layout I have drawn black free hand lines around the edges of some of the paper layers.

I used Distress Grit paste as my wet medium with a floral swirl stencil.

This very pretty ribbon was the perfect colouring for this colour scheme. Just tied in a bow and glued to the layout.

I wanted to use some stamped verses on this layout. I  stamped with Black Soot distress Ink.

I used staples to keep my torn paper layers together and metal brads to keep my photo layers together.

The topic was 'girlfrreinds' so my layout  has me with all my besties on it!

Lets Get Sketchy July 15th Sketch Challenge

Hello!

It's time for the mid month sketch challenge at Let's Get Sketchy!

This challenge will remain open until the end of July, so get your mojo on and come and join in with us with this super sketch!

Here's my layout inspired by the sketch

And here's the sketch

I used one piece of 12x12 patterned paper from Authentique for this layout, cut down by 1cm on TWO sides so that when I stuck it centrally onto my cardstock mat, the cardstock showed around the edge of the patterned paper. I used my Perfect Tears Tools to create the perfect tear lines in the paper first and then the two middle strips I had torn off I simply turned them over and used the other side of the paper to create the design. Before sticking these torn papers onto a piece of 12x12 cardstock though I did a couple of other things......

My buttons I have actually sown onto the patterned paper with pink and white cotton.
And the bottom strip of over turned paper ( chequered) I paper pierced so I could sew my bakers twine through the paper as these photos show you....

Pierce through the paper carefully with a pokey tool.
Tie a knot in the end of the bakers twine when threaded on a needle and sew away!

Until it looks like this! Then stick all the pieces of patterned paper onto the cardstock background.

Here are the sown on buttons!

Now for a few photos of the finished layout.

I have used Martha Stewart moulds to make some white paper clay flowers. These were finished doff with some Liquid Pearl in the centres, and mixed in with some Prima flowers and a Apple Blossom flower from Wild Orchid Crafts.

The Wycinanka Allium flowers I left bare and just added Liquid Pearls to the dotty ends.

I inked the edges of the embellished papers on the brads with the Rose Bud Chalk ink.

I also used paper clay leaves and pushed them under my matted photo which was lifted up with foam pads to slot my embellishments underneath.

I added a ribbon between the photo and its mat before sticking and knotted the ends. It is placed so it follows the movement of the ribbon on DD pretty dress. I love this sweet photo to of her giving Merlin a big loving hug too!

Here are the products used on this layout:

Authentique: Fabulous: Fabulous Five
Bazzil Cardstock: Blossom
Bazzil Cardstock: Tutu Pink
Kaisercraft: Tiny Alpha Stickers: Cotton Candy
Kaisercraft: Alpha Stickers sheet: Ivory
Wycinanka: Laser cuts: Allium

Mid Month challenge at Scrap Our Stash

Hello, its time for the second part of my Guest Designer Spot here at Scrap Our Stash for July!

I am back with my layout for July Sketch challenge using the word ‘FIREWORKS’.

I really enjoyed creating the layout for this sketch!

Here it is.....

And here is the super sketch that inspired it!

The July Sketch is teamed up with the word ‘FIREWORKS’. The idea is to use a stash item for each letter of the word FIREWORKS. Here are my stash items I used for each of the letters: -

F: Flowers

I: Ink (paper edges)

R: Rosette

E: Embossing Powder (on title chipboard)

W: Wood

O: Outdoors (photo)

R: Rhinestones

K: Kaisercraft (papers)

S: Seed Beads

I really enjoyed doing this one, my colours were inspired from a colour combo photo I had seen, so after rummaging through my papers I came up with these Kaisercraft papers 50 Cents, these gorgeous patterns look fabulous layered up. I do love to add a little mixed media to my layouts and this one has a little! I created the background ‘circle’ from the sketch with gesso applied with a palette knife. I have a rhinestone circle on top of that. My chipboard title was altered with embossing powder. My edges have all been distressed and inked with Frayed Burlap, and in the background, I have added mists and seed beads. The layout is finished off with the flowers clusters, buttons, rosette and wood icons. The ‘outdoor’ photo is my DD riding a few years ago, we used to trundle through the lanes picking flowers as we went!

I had these sweet little wooden rocking horses in my stash from a wood icon Christmas collection but thought they worked perfectly for this LO!
The gorgeous shabby teal buttons are from my bead stash, I actually had these to make jewellery with but they just seemed to scream at me to use on here!

I have used wound up ribbons and twines in my embellishment clusters to add texture and detail with the rosette and the Petaloo flowers.

Here you can see the rhinestone circle with the grit paste stencilled dots and antique Gold mist in the background. The seed beads also add a little bit of extra colour and detail.
Applying the gesso with a palette knife like I have on the background circle on this layout gives a completely different look compared to brushing it on with a paint brush or doing something with a stencil.

I do love this Kaisercraft collection 50 Cents. I loved the colours mixed with the browns from the pony I the photo and highlighted with some extra Teal. The patterns on the papers gives a lovely country feel too! You can also see the Izink splats in this photo too.

This is the embossed title, whilst heating the black embossing powder I dropped the gold frantage into it so it melted and blended together at the same time.

My layers are popped up with cardboard which enabled me to be able to push the wood icon borders into the layers for full effect.
