Let's Get Sketchy mid month challenge

Hello all,

Here we are with the mid month challenge at Let's Get Sketchy!

We have a lovely sketch for you!

Here is my DT layout interpretation of the sketch.

And here is the sketch............

Here are a few close ups of my layout.

I have used papers from a baby collection by First Edition called 'It's a Girl'!
These are the most adorable papers with the cutest designs!

I distressed my edges and added lace here and there and a doily to add the shabby chic look.

I used Prima flowers and some die cut flowers mixed in around the Wycinanka chipboard heart background, that I cut into pieces and used I different places around the layout.

I used my Prima Metallics semi watercolour cake set with water to create a wash to paint around the main design of the layout, blending it so as not to have abrupt lines and to keep the it looking soft.

I added pieces of cheeseclothe poked into layers which also soften the design.
I have layered two thicknesses and colours of ribbons and then wrapped and tied them around the one oblong paper layer.

Small details like the peg, shabby wooden hearts and the straw all add to the cute shabby chic feel.

The baby theme was continued with the cute charms added around the layout.

My journaling is on the back of a tag which slots into the side of my layers behind the photo.
Below is the tag the other way round when it is slotted back into the layout.

Products used on this layout:

* First Edition: Its a Girl!:  12x12 Premium paper pad
* Prima Wild And Free: Flowers #594701

A new case file at CSI - color stories inspiration

Its a new case file time here at CSI -Color Stories Inpiration!

Case File #238

Here is how I solved the case file with my DT layout.

And here is the case file....

My Evidence used was:

* polka dots
* text print/ book pages
* animals
* flowers, trees, leaves

My Testimony used was:

* Tuck your story in something but make it visible

Here are some close ups...

I've gone for a much more simple layout for this case file using lots of paper layers.

Instead of  my usual distressing I have used a black liner pen and hand drawn a edging line around all the oblong papers. These lines are not done with a ruler and look fab with a bit of a wriggle in them!

My journaling was put on a tag and slipped behind a piece of  parchment paper so the tag can be seen through it.

My mixture of die cut leaves have been cut in a dark kraft paper and then been drawn around with the black liner pen to make the pop!

The title is a Kaisercraft die.

***CSI Case File 237***

Hi all,

Its September 1st and time for a new case file here at CSI - Color Stories Inspiration!

I cant believe its already September, the summer holidays seem to have flown by. I love autumn time but I hate the children going back to school, I do like having them at home.
This case file is perfect for my thoughts with the school educational theme to it. I used a photo of my son from his last year in Primary school. He looks so young to me in that photo now but at the time he looked so grown up. Another year goes by and he's off to secondary school and then now another year on and he's a young man! They grow up so quickly in that 2 year period, I am dreading my daughter getting to that point, I will make the most of it now! LOL

Here is my interpretation of the case file....

And here is the case file. As its the 1st of the month the case file comes with a sketch too!

All colours were used from the scheme. Some colours were used more then others. The red colour is in the mist splats in the background and the dotted line on top of one of the journal cards. The green colour is in the pattern on the BoBunny floral/foliage paper.

My evidence used:

* Grid pattern
* stripes
* people images
* Washi Tape
* school themed stuff

My Testimony:

* Topic: School or something you've learnt

Here are some close and details.....

These journal cards came in the perfect colours or this case file and my photo! The red dotted line can be seen on the top of the 'today' card. The Stash Panache badges were perfect, loved those, from my stash I'd been hoarding for ages!

The Dusty Attic title was simply painted with a couple of coats from a colour in the Prima metallic set.
My papers had both torn and straight cut edges to add texture and detail. The black papers from the Art of Life collection made my photo pop out from the design.

These brads added a different detail and fun finish along with my stapled papers. My background paper was splattered with a red colour from the Metallic set.

I used 2 different washi tapes torn of the roll and layered up under my papers to add new layers and to blend the edges of the design out. The red colour is also on the washi tape.

I finished off the design by using a blue colour from the Metallic set with some water and did a wash around the edge of my design to make it pop! I then did a little splatting on the background with the same colour.

Products used in this layout:

* Blue Fern Studio: Seaside Cottage: Voyage
* Kaisercraft: Art Of Life: Remember
* Kaisercraft: Art of Life: Brave
* BoBunny: Welcome Home: Home Dreams

Here is my interpretation of the sketch:

and here is the sketch...

For this layout I used a collection of papers from my stash by Carta Bella called Beautiful Moments.
I used many of the double sided papers in my banner layers in colours that matched colours or complimented colours in the photo.

I inked all my layers with chalk inks, a red one on the pink papers and  brown one on the neutrals.
My photo is matted on a piece of cork sheet.

I used my favourite mist Crème de rouge in the background just splattered on not misted.

I used elements from the sticker sheet from the paper collection also.
With the flowers I chose to cluster with pearls and seed beads.

I finished the embellishment clusters off with Finnabair glitterand the Prima wood icon 'natural beauty'.
