***CSI*** Case FIle #239

Hello All!

So here we are with the first case file for the month of October here at CSI Color Stories Inspiration    which features an awesome Composite Sketch created just for CSI by The Nifty Pixel. This challenge will stay open for the entire month. We've also got a brand-new line up of sponsors, which always makes playing even sweeter!

So, are you ready for the new challenge? Grab you forensics kits, CSI players, and get ready for some serious sleuthing as we open Major Case File No. 239.

Here is my DT inspiration for Case File #239

Here are the details for the case file and the sketch that goes with it.

COMPOSITE SKETCH - Feel free to rotate, substitute elements, etc., but use as inspiration for your page.

All colours used from the Scheme.

My Evidence used:

* solid background
* floral print
* thin stripes
* leaves
* decorative border
* speech bubble
* wood
* circles
* washi tape

My Testimony Used:

* Presentation: Handwrite your journaling

My layout was based on a solid background. My layer paper I tore to fit in the 12x12 solid background with a torn division down the page slightly off centre.
I used papers from 2 different companies, Glitz Design: Wild And Free (horse paper)
and Carta Bella; Hello Again (journal cards)

I used the journal cards with my photo to create the 4 photo space design from the sketch and they hold the handwritten journaling and the speech bubbles.
The washi tape strip down the torn gap features the thin stripes.

I used a Prima Wood Icon of a log for my wood evidence, mixed in an embellishment cluster with die cut leaves and a burlap flower.

The 4 photo feature using journal cards. My title is a Heidi Swapp Acetate Word placed on top of  a chippie filmstrip piece.

We're so excited to have eight generous sponsors this month! Our sponsors are among the best in the crafting industry, offering unique and trendy products

We trust we've left enough clues for you to solve the case!
The deadline for completing this Case File is Tuesday, October 31, at 11:59 p.m. EST. Be sure to link your layout using the link tool in the sidebar on the CSI blog, and mention the Evidence and Testimony clues you used. Also, please title your link with your name and country.

A new challenge at Let's Get sketchy!

Hello crafters!

It's time for a new sketch challenge at Let's get Sketchy!
We have a lovely sketch for you for the first challenge of September, I hope you are all going to be able to join in with us in this challenge, so grab those supplies and lets get scrapping!

Here is my interpretation of the sketch:

and here is the sketch...

For this layout I used a collection of papers from my stash by Carta Bella called Beautiful Moments.
I used many of the double sided papers in my banner layers in colours that matched colours or complimented colours in the photo.

I inked all my layers with chalk inks, a red one on the pink papers and  brown one on the neutrals.
My photo is matted on a piece of cork sheet.

I used my favourite mist Crème de rouge in the background just splattered on not misted.

I used elements from the sticker sheet from the paper collection also.
With the flowers I chose to cluster with pearls and seed beads.

I finished the embellishment clusters off with Finnabair glitterand the Prima wood icon 'natural beauty'.

***Guest Designer for Scrap Our Stash***

So this is so exciting and now I can tell you all!

I am so happy to be a Guest Designer for Scrap Our Stash for the month of July!

As you know I love entering challenges, I do this because I love sharing my work and joining in the challenges with all you other ladies. It is even more wonderful when one of your layouts ends up being featured or placed or winning, how exciting is that? I was lucky enough to be chosen as a 'Top 3' at Scrap Our Stash last month and invited to Guest Design for July, I cant wait to show you what I came up with for this months challenges.

Today it is the reveal of the Tic Tac Toe Challenge for July 1st.

Here is my layout:

This is the Tic Tac Toe board for this month.

THE CHALLENGE:
Create a layout and you must use all three items from any horizontal, vertical or diagonal row.
This challenge is open until the 29th July 2017

I used the horizontal line  STRIPED PAPER - TAG - BANNER

Now for some  details and close ups...

I used a lovely paper collection from Carta Bella for this layout, Flora No.1.
I really liked the colours in the papers to go with my photo and the dark floral PP to bring out DD's dress. In particular I loved that striped paper which I think makes the layout 'pop' out at you!

My large layers were torn  instead of cutting, to create the distressed shabby chic feel and my smaller layers i.e. the banners were all distressed with Prima distress tool. I even distressed my photo!
The photo is matted onto back cardstock.

I loved this lace, this is just slotted under the matted photo, which is popped up with some cardboard (or foam pads), giving some texture and a softening to the edges of the photo.

My background had a little splattering of mist, I do like a little mixed media on my layouts, but this layout didn't need any much with the busy patterns of the papers. I stamped this Finnabair butterfly onto the background paper as I love the sentiment on it, for my daughter, I really wish my daughter to spread her wings and fly in life and it was appropriate with the beautiful butterfly face painting on her face! I stamped it with Distress Ink Black Soot.

Under the banners I used a paper doily die cut, it is a whole one cut in half so I could fit it both sides of the photo. I used a selection of embellishments from a Papermaze kit, these included the clear buttons, pink rose and the dinky little Prima butterflies. I tied bakers twine through the buttons and tied at the back and left the ends showing through the clear buttons.

The kraft tags were also in this kit, I cut into the 'today' one so I could slot most of it under my photo but still have the word on top.

My journaling is written on another kraft tag and slotted in the layers behind the photo, so it can be easily pulled out to be read. I also loved the clear background quote stickers added over the layout.

Products used on this layout:

Carta Bella: Flora No.1: Peony Posy: Cluster
Carta Bella: Flora No.1: Peony Posy: Journaling Cards (reverse)
Bazzill Cardstock: Black Prismatic
Tattered Angels: Glimmer Mist: Crème de Rouge
Prima Marketing flowers: Wild & Free: #594701
Prima Marketing: Finnabair: Butterfly wood mounted stamp
Tim Holtz: Distress Ink: Black Soot
Papermaze Kit: buttons, pink rose, Prima Rose Quartz butterflies, Kraft tags, doily.

I hope I have inspired you with how I created using the Tic Tac Toe board. I look forward to seeing all your creations too!

Halloween layout

Hi all!

Time seems to be flying by, Halloween only seems like yesterday and now already we are nearly at the end of November - I don't know where its going!
I'm doing some catching up by doing my layout of the antics from this years Halloween.
This is the first year my kids have ever been trick or treating and they had a fabulous time meeting up and going round with some friends and of course getting some sweets! We had fun with the annual pumpkin carving too!

I had fun with this layout, even down to the doodling zigzags round the edge with a black pen!

The pumpkins are fussy cut out of the wonderful Fancy Pants paper. I loved the pumpkin bunting!
The Chippie title was sprayed with Cosmic Shimmer mist several times and when dry I painted over the lime green Art Alchemy Paint.

The Blue Fern Studio chipboard cobweb I 'painted' with the black enamel accents, that I did the dots round the edge with, with a paint brush to create a really glossy look.
The middle pieces of the web were painted with the Art Alchemy paint.

The pumpkin splats were created by mixing the Tim Holtz Grit paste with the orange acrylic paint. This was then spread through a Dusty Attic Stencil. The Grit paste gives fantastic texture, it does actually look like squashed pumpkin!

Products used for this layout:

Background paper:- Carta Bella: All Hallow's Eve: Scary Stripe
