Shabby Chic Christmas Decorations

Hello all,

I made these before Christmas but hadn't had time to share them with you, so I thought id get a last post in in 2016 before we start a new year!

I got these wooden snowflakes from the NEC show a couple years ago and hadn't done anything with them. So now it was time to turn them into Christmas decorations.

These were so simple to do, I firstly painted them on both sides with white gesso. and then I roughly painted them with Shimmerz Textures Patina and a paint brush to dad the Patina over the snowflakes

Whilst the Textures patina was still wet I sprinkled on some silver glitter,

I decorated them with some pieces of silver snowflake ribbon, small pieces of  white organza as a base to the  flower clusters

I used some Prima Marketing Poinsettia flowers along with white or pale blue roses, pearly spikes and some metal snowflake charms.

A little touch of glitter on the edges of the roses petals as a finishing touch and a hanging string.

So 2016 is nearly over, I look forward to seeing you all next year!

Happy New Year!!

***Saturday tutorial over at Swirlydoos***

Hi everyone!

Today I'm up on the Swirlydoos Kit Club blog with the Saturday tutorial.

I had one piece of 49 and Market PP left over from my November Swirlydoos Market Street kit and thought it would make a lovely card! So in this tutorial I am making a 'Z' fold greetings card using the November kit.

If you pop over to the Swirlydoos blog HERE you will find the link to the SNAPGUIDE tutorial.

And a close up on one of the handmade flowers

Thanks for stopping by today

***CSI - Color Stories Inspirtion Case File 220***

Happy 15th of the month, it can only mean one thing - its time for the second Case File of the month!

We've a super case file for you to crack, beautiful colours and still the option to be Christmassy or non Christmassy. Me, I never pass up an excuse to be Christmassy!

Here's my layout ........

Let me show you the Case file

Here is the Evidence I used from the Case File

* stripes / gingham
* star / hearts
* flowers / leaves
* ribbons
* tags / labels
* snowflakes / holiday items

My Testimony used was

* Document something about Christmas food.
* Inspirational words: traditions

I have some wonderful childhood memories of  Christmas. Many traditions that we did and still do every year. Food is a big part of this, my Mum being a fabulous cook, who loves doing the delicious yummy dishes that I spent all year dreaming about as part of my Christmas. My mum always made her own Christmas cakes, I remember that our favourite design was the 'snow' scene but every now and then the design would change for a year before going back to the 'traditional'!

Here are some close ups

**Swirlydoos November Kit 'Market Street' Reveal**

Hello all,

Today I'm sharing with you my Design Team Projects for the Swirlydoos Kit Club 'Market Street' Kit reveal.
This kit features beautiful papers from 49 and Market 'Botanical Heirlooms' collection. I adored these papers and as always the kit included some gorgeous embellishments!

I'm going to start with the

SKETCH CHALLENGE.

We have a beautiful new look sketch this month designed by our very own DT member Kim. Details of the challenge are on the forum HERE

Here is my take on the sketch.

 I used the papers 'The Patch' and 'Passage' from the Heirloom Botanicals collection for this layout.
There is some fussy cutting to create the flower embellishments and cutting into the paper to slip in the lace. I have used products from the Main kit, Flower, Embellishment and Mediums Add On kits.

SOMEONE SPECIAL LAYOUT

Next I'm going to show you another layout using the Duty Attic chipboard piece from the Embellishment Add On.

I used paper 'Faded Bloom' for this layout. I altered my chipboard with a Lindys Stamp Gang embossing powder Geranium Coral Blush, from a previous kit.
I used the Prima Memory Hardware Artisan powder 'French sage' in the background of my flower clusters to deepen the cluster and give it some 'undergrowth' background.
I have used the Main, Flower, Embellishment and Mediums Add On kits.

Next up is my

ALL THAT FLUTTERS CHALLENGE LAYOUT

For this challenge use the November 'Market Street’ kit and Kit Add-ons to create a scrapbook layout, OTP project, tag or card including anything that ‘flutters’ somewhere within that project i.e butterflies, dragonflies, bees, ladybugs, birds, fairies
More detail on the Forum HERE

Here is my layout

I used the paper 'Oasis' for this layout. I tore the paper into 3 and then turned the middle piece over and used the reverse side in my layout.
The sewing machine came out for this layout!
I used products from the Main, Flower, Cardstock, Embellishment and Medium Add On Kits.

ANATOMY LAYOUT

You may have seen this already in the reveal post but if you haven't this is my anatomy layout.
This layout is made from the Main Kit only.
You can find the SNAPGUIDE tutorial for this layout HERE

Lastly for today is my

TECHNIQUE KIT PROJECT CANVAS

I thoroughly enjoyed this project - a 12x12 canvas and some Bare Basics 'Love' Letters.
I did a Mixed Media background and then had fun with the flowers!

There is a SNAPGUIDE tutorial to go with this to show you my process in creating this.
You can find it HERE

Here  are some close ups.

Thank you for stopping by today,
I hope you enjoyed your visit
