CSi - Color Stories Inspiration #243

Hello all and a happy December 1st to you! 

I'm back with the first of the Decembers CSI- Color, Stories Inspiration case files for you to solve.

Here is how I solved the case file

My evidence used:

* Christmas winter elements

* wood, silver - chipboard snowflakes & silver stickles, glitter, thread

* ribbon/ string - silver thread

* circular elements - background stencilling

* something fuzzy - white gauze material

* glitter - Stampendous Silver Halo glitter mix

My Testimony used:

* Tuck your story inside something -journaling is tucked away behind the photo on a tag.

Now for some details:

The background paper is two different papers from BoBunny Snowfall collection and Powder Mountain collection, 6" of one and 6" of another stuck on a 12x12 cardstock.

The background has texture paste through a stencil to create the circular elements.

I then swept some green paint over the papers and texture paste randomly with  brush.

The photos are layered up on corrugated blue card from Fancy Pants. I tore the oblongs to fit my photos with some card showing to keep the shabby feel to the elements. These layers are then popped up on some cardboard to lift off of the background paper. 

The Wycinanka laser cut chipboard snowflakes I left plain. These are quite white in their raw state so are perfect for snowy/ white themed pages. All I did was add some silver stickles glitter glue to parts of the to make them sparkle.

Behind the paper layers I pushed some of the white gauze material to give a soft flowing feel of snow to the layout. 

I cut some long lengths of silver embroidery thread and dropped and dangled it over the embellishments.

The beautiful Prima Marketing flowers were simply placed under and over the layers and then had a little silver glitter added to them

The finishing touches were the large white seed beads dropped around the flowers and embellishments and then the Silver Halo glitter scattered around to. This glitter is fabulous for mixed media because it has glitter pieces of different sizes in its mix with gives a wonderful effect when large amounts a left to drift across places on a layout.

Lastly a few Stickles glitter dots around the design and a little paint round the paper edges and its done!

Lets Get Sketchy October 1st

Morning all,

Here we are in October and that means its time for a new challenge at Lets Get Sketchy!

Here is my take on the October 1st sketch.

And here is the October 1st sketch. 

I used Maja Design Vintage Spring Basics papers. The pale lavender colours in these particular papers where perfect for picking out the lavender woods that DD daughter was having her photo taken in. 

This month I decided to treat myself to a little present and ordered the September Craft Box from Chronicles of Handmade Craft Box.

These are embellishment boxes perfect for mixed media based projects. 

I have used the September box for my embellishments for this layout, only adding some texture paste stencilling in the background and a piece of Wycinanka laser cut chipboard for my title. 

Here are some close ups of my layout.

This piece of lavender lace is gorgeous. I just slotted it under my photo paper layers, which have all been distressed. You can also see the beautiful fish scale patterned gems catching the light and showing all those gorgeous colours in them.

The flowers and leaves complimented each other and the layout bringing out the background colours in the photo with the pretty enamel butterfly charm.

The Wycinanka  piece I have simply left in its raw state.

I loved the colours of this butterfly on the stamp, matching the blue and white stripes on DD jumper.

The stencilling with the texture paste was done using a Prima stencil.

 I used a mixture of blues and lavenders in my paper layers to bring out the colours in the photo.

Let's Get Sketchy mid month challenge

Hello all, 

Here we are with the mid month challenge at Let's Get Sketchy!

We have a lovely sketch for you!

Here is my DT layout interpretation of the sketch.

Here are a few close ups of my layout.

I have used papers from a baby collection by First Edition called 'It's a Girl'!

These are the most adorable papers with the cutest designs! 

I distressed my edges and added lace here and there and a doily to add the shabby chic look. 

I used Prima flowers and some die cut flowers mixed in around the Wycinanka chipboard heart background, that I cut into pieces and used I different places around the layout. 

I used my Prima Metallics semi watercolour cake set with water to create a wash to paint around the main design of the layout, blending it so as not to have abrupt lines and to keep the it looking soft.

I added pieces of cheeseclothe poked into layers which also soften the design.

I have layered two thicknesses and colours of ribbons and then wrapped and tied them around the one oblong paper layer. 

Small details like the peg, shabby wooden hearts and the straw all add to the cute shabby chic feel.

The baby theme was continued with the cute charms added around the layout.

My journaling is on the back of a tag which slots into the side of my layers behind the photo. 

Below is the tag the other way round when it is slotted back into the layout.

Mixed Media Vintage Canvas

Good afternoon, 

Today I want to share with you a little mixed media canvas I created this past week with a little step  by step process. 

Let's start with this canvas then!........

I started with a 5x7 inch canvas

I used 3 different stencils with white sand texture paste......

adding patches with each stencil randomly over the canvas.

I used this lovely chipboard piece from Dusty Attic and painted it with gesso.

I chose 3 Prima  Color Bloom sprays to use on the canvas background

I started with the lightest, Tea Stain, then a touch of Sunshine and finished with the darkest, Antique Gold. Allow to run and wash over the texture paste and canvas and dry in between each colour application

On the dry chipboard piece I rubbed some Inka Gold with my finger around al the edges.

I added a pretty piece of lace down the left long side and then adhered the chipboard piece over the top. 

From the packaging of the Prima butterflies  I cut a circle big enough to fit my circle on the chipboard.  I inked the edge of the circle with distress ink.

My main embellishments were now added, the butterfly and the Prima Resin piece, which I have also rubbed over the high edges with the Inka gold. 

I used the 'make art' words from Wycnanka. these I painted with some brown acrylic paint

I added a metal corner piece ......

Now its gets fun adding the smaller details...... the painted chippie words, a metal pair of scissors.

I also added some grouped Prima pearls.

I then had fun with the micro beads. I dabbed the gel medium where I wanted the micro beads and then dropped them into it! These add wonderful detail, texture and shine!

The finishing touch was the addition of the Viva Precious Metal colour. This is the most gorgeous paint, so sparkly and just like liquid gold! Love it! 

Using a paint brush I brushed it over the edges of the canvas and some of the embellishments just to add a little extra sparkle!
