Best Memories - October Kit - Tres Jolie

 Hi all, 

Its the start of the month with a brand new kit to share with you from Tres Jolie Kits.

This one was gorgeous and I thoroughly enjoyed creating with the gorgeous 13 Arts papers.

The colours were vibrant in places and as you will see later tin the month I have done a masculine layout from the kit too.

Here is my first layout for the month and it is also my interpretation of the sketch. It is, I admit, quite a loose interpretation but this is where I ended up in my process of following it!

The next few photos show you my process in creating this layout.

I loved this patterned paper with the black background and was my first choice of paper to use from the kit. 

I also chose the frame from the embellishments to match to the sketch design.

These are the flowers and chippy pieces I chose to use from the kit. 

I have added some other flowers from my stash to create the flower overload that we all love!

I mixed some pink acrylic pink in with the texture paste to create my pink texture paste 

I used this pink paste to stencil my background 

My chosen photo I slipped inside the frame 

I used the pink texture paste on the chipboard swirls as well. I built it up in places to create a think layer very textured layer.

The title chipboard I covered with a white embossing powder

I also added some white texture paste stencilling on the background

The photo and frame are popped up on cardboard so I could add flowers underneath the layers which creates depth and makes the layers stand out more. I built the flower layers up with the pink chippy swirls layered up with them.

Lastly I added the title chipboard pieces gluing them on top of the flowers.

'Dinosaur Egg' layout for Tres Jolie Kits

Hello everyone!

This is my last project of the month using the September Tres Jolie Scrapbook kit.
This is quite a fun layout, its still very much shabby chic in style but has a fun edge to it with the photo and words.
Holly was on her Brownie Holiday and we were visiting a dinosaur park in the Isle of Wight. These eggs the children could get into as part of the interactive experience for them... all great fun and a great photo opportunity! 

Here is a photo process tutorial showing you how I created this layout.....

I used three 12x12 background papers. The bottom one I kept at 12x12in, the next two I trimmed so they were a cm smaller on all sides then the one underneath. They were all heavily distressed and shabby rips torn into the sides in places.

My photo is layered on a piece of patterned paper also with torn edges. At this point I hadn't stuck the photo down.

Having decided where my photo was going I added some texture paste and stencilling in the same area so that the stencilling shows around my photo.

I then added the photo and started to build up with a journal note cut from the 12x12 papers and some of the ephemera flower pieces. These are really pretty and eye catching with the foils on them, they really catch the light.

Next I added the flowers, a couple of 'word' ephemera and some resin dragonflies.

The green pearl strip I cut up into pieces and added them to my flower clusters wit some of the single pearls.

I added some detail to the dragonflies with the Silver Nuvo Crystal.

And lastly splashed over some watered down gesso to finish.

'A fun ride' layout for Tres Jolie

Hi everyone,

I'm back on the Tres Jolie blog again today with this layout created with the September kit from Tres Jolie Kit Club.
This layout used loads of layers to create a really detailed deep effect with a mixed media background.

Here are some close up photos with a few details of the layout.

The mixed media background is acrylic paint brushed over the centre of the background paper. 

I used white texture paste with the stencil and added it to show out around the sides of the layered papers in the centre.

I used a selection of the papers from the kit to create my paper layers. I used various colours that contrast each other and yes, as usual they all have torn edges. I layered them up off set against each other.

I used some Splash! Ink splattered in the background and added the cute peg with a peice out of the ephemera glued onto it. I love the modern effect that some of the ephemera peices give the layout against the shabby chic style.

The frame was with one of the Prima flower sets and was the perfect size to work well with my photo. 

I added some of the black glitter gems and some enamel drops too.

The blue roses I toned down a little by gently brushing them with gesso to get a softer colour to them.

I added one of the cute resin peices and chose the bee to sit in my flower cluster.

Just a note, when layering up paper layers, layer some up with foam pads or cardboard inbetween and some without, this adds an irregularity that gives a really good look and also spaces to slide embellishments inbetween.
