Hi ladies!
Here we are with the gorgeous Swirlydoos Kit Club December Kit 'Vintage Winter'! I loved this one! Beautiful papers from BoBunny, this collection Winter Wishes could be used as a Christmas/winter paper collection but equally could be sneaked into non Christmas/winter layouts fairly easily too! We also had a very fun Technique kit this month, Prima IOD moulds and Ice resin. I've never used Ice resin before so this was a fun experiment! You can see what I did with my Ice Resin mould pieces later in the post.
This kit is available NOW in the Swirlydoos Store while stock lasts - go get yours!
So now for my projects created with this kit!
First up I have my Sketch challenge layout. This is one of the challenges that can be found on the Swirlydoos Forum under the challenges thread.
This photo shows the popped up layers of the Christmas trees.

So now for my projects created with this kit!
First up I have my Sketch challenge layout. This is one of the challenges that can be found on the Swirlydoos Forum under the challenges thread.
Here is the December sketch
I went with the pink colours of the kit for this LO. I did add couple of pink glittered roses from my stash just to finish it off. The chippie I painted with gesso and then added the Glitter Snow on top. the rusty bells were tied up on string to get that whimsical feel from the sketch. I inked my edges with some Distress ink Frayed Burlap to give a bit of an antique/vintage feel to the piece. I used the stencil from the mediums Add on (loved that) and then I have painted with Shimmerz Inklingz First Blush to give the pink sheen background. My photo I altered to get that vintage feel.
Next up is my layout for the December All That Flutters challenge. This challenge can also be found on the Swirlydoos Forum challenges thread.
I had GREAT fun creating this one! My main objective with this one was to make SNOW!
I used the 3D balls, gluing them with gel medium to create the height of the snow and then covered it with the Glitter Snow to create my 'drifts'. The Creative Embellishment snowflake chippies were covered with the Whispers glitter embossing powder, which is super sparkly! Again a little inking with frayed burlap on the Christmas tree and girl just to 'bring them out' a little. This photo was taken in a completely snow free zone but from this layout you would never know!
This photo shows the popped up layers of the Christmas trees.
Another Christmas layout.
I did some fussy cutting with this one, the girls with lanterns and peg piece and the snow scene snowflake were fussy cut. I tore the pink paper back to create the rolled opening. I used the Echo Park stencil again and painted the cut up pieces of the Prima felt gates with the Viva silver paint from the Mediums kit. The Poinsettia flowers were from my stash but are Prima.
Now for a non- Christmas layout.
This LO just by adding summery flowers and embellishments works really well for fresh feel.
I used torn paper layers to create the background and the larger pieces from the BoBunny ephemera collection to mat the photo. I used the Prima lace/bling flourish, the brads and the Metal trinkets with Alphas from the kit to embellish this. I also used one of the keys which I painted (actually DD painted it - I will get in trouble if I don't mention that!) with pink acrylic paint. The flowers and leaves came from my stash.
And now for the Technique Kit!
This is a magnetic Tag card. The tag is attached to the card with magnets allowing the recipient to be able to keep the tag as a keepsake / fridge magnet.
There is a SNAPGUIDE TUTORIAL to show you how I made this project, which can be found here
I did a matching pair of cards. The second one doesn't have the magnets, the tag is stuck to the card.
I used two different pieces from the Prima IOD moulds made with the Ice Resin for these cards. I added a tiny amount of a pale coloured Perfect Pearls Mica powder to give the Ice resin pieces a cloudy look. Then I altered them once they were dry. To see how I did that visit the Snapguide Tutorial. The photo below shows the crackled silver paint in the middle and the opal blue paint around the edge.
Lastly Christmas Decorations.
These gorgeous silver snowflake decorations came in the main kit and the embellishment kit.
I altered mine with flowers and embellishments from the kit and added some re berries from a previous Swirlydoos kit to finish them off and add a spark of colour!
