Maja Design - Home for Christmas

I hope you have had a great Christmas !!!

So as we seem to have missed another chance of a white Christmas this year, I have had to create my own  frost and snow on my layouts !
I love these gorgeous Maja Design papers 'Home for Christmas'.  I didn't want to lose the designs on the paper by doing too much on it, so wanted to do a small design following the snowy frozen theme of the paper. This photo of my daughter seemed perfect- in her 'Frozen' dress and her face painted with a frozen snowflake theme.

I backed the design with The Crafters Workshop 6x6 mask 'Mini Grandma's Doily' and texture paste. My photo was backed on corrugated kraft cardboard. I used Blue Fern Studio 'Shabby Flakes' chipboard snowflakes. I covered them in gesso and then had a rough coat of Shimmerz Texturez Patina. My flowers were a mixture of The Hobby House 'small floral aqua blue' and some blue roses I had in my stash. Also used were some Prima Alpha stickers, cheeseclothe, Creative Embellishmets cream Pearls 5mm, Prima Say it in Crystals 'Ephiphany' self adhesive embellishments and some snow berries from AnnaMarie Designs. My chipboard Reindeer was covered with Stampendous Vintage Shabby Blue embossing enamel. I then finished off with some 'Snowtex' dabbed onto the flowers and snowflakes for the 'snowy' feel !

I hope you all have a new a very happy new year !

Christmas is here!

Merry Christmas !

So its Christmas time and so for a Christmas layout !
For this layout I have used Blue Fern Studios Vintage Christmas collection.

I love these papers and the gorgeous designs on them.  I cut into the 'Magical' paper above the house so could start layering up my pieces of chosen paper behind the house. My layers and fussy cut elements came of the 'Greetings card' page. I used a corner punch on all corners and inked with Distress Ink Frayed Burlap. I found some little Poinsettia flowers in my stash just to finish it of.

I lifted layers up again by using cardboard underneath to add dimension.
Hope you have a lovely Christmas !

Ginny :)

Scarlet Elegance

Hello Everyone!

Today I have a couple of layouts made using the  Swirlydoos monthly kit Scarlet Elegance. This kit has paper collection Kaisercraft Ma Cherie in it.
These layouts have used the Main kit and the Embellishment, Flower and Medium Add On kits.

In this Layout I used the crackle paste through the mask, from the Mediums add on,  and added a little of both Mica powders (Finnabair Mica Powder Green Opal Magic & Pearl Ex Mica Blue Russet), just to add a sheen, although the photo doesn't show it up too well. The flowers were all from just the one pack of Prima flowers Royal Menagerie 'Helana'. The Prima gold doily lace trim is beautiful, this is cut up and poked under the tears. The pretty corners are a Martha Stewart punch from my stash. The Kaisercraft Wood Flourish Twin Lamp post was covered with white embossing powder and the lamps highlighted with some of the Pearl Ex mica powder. All the beautiful butterflies are out of the Ma Cherie collectables pack.
Some close up's;

This is the other layout.

On this layout I used the gold Prima Rocquencourt lace trim, Darice black doily lace tape, Darice pink gem trim and  Petaloo flowers. I have created a layered effect just using the Ma Cherie Collectables, layering them up using cardboard/foam tape underneath. I added faux stitching with a white pen and pearl drops with Viva Perlen-pen Ice White.
Some close ups of this one;

I hope you enjoyed your visit to my  blog,

Ginny  :)

Hi there !

This week I have been working with Swirlydoos monthly kit - Scarlet Elegance. A beautiful kit with Kaisercraft Ma Cherie papers and some gorgeous embellishments and mediums.
This layout I have created for Angelica's All that Flutters challenge, a project that has anything that 'flutters' in it somewhere, i.e  butterflies, moths, bees, fairies, birds etc......

For this layout I used items from the main kit, the flower add on and the embellishment add on.

Background Paper: Kaisercraft: Ma Cherie: Glamour
Kaisercraft: Ma Cherie: Collectables
BoBunny: Chipboard: Provence
Petaloo: Mini Burlap: Antique Red
Petaloo: Floral Ephemera: Grey
Kaisercraft: Wood Flourishes: Vines

The only extras on this layout was some Tim Holtz Distress Ink Vintage Photo.

This layout has lots of layers. I use cardboard, from the box used for postal packaging, under the pieces I want to raise and layer up, a much cheaper way of doing it!
Here are some photos to show you the layers and the depth it gives to the layout.

Thank you for taking the time to look. Please take a look at the Swirlydoos All that Flutters challenge on the forum http://www.swirlydoos.com/forums/topic/scarlet-elegance-all-that-flutters-challenge/
