CSI - Color Stories Inspiration

Hello all!

It's time for the final Case File of the Year for CSI - Color Stories Inspiration!

And also my last on the CSI Design Team.
I have had an amazing time with my fellow DT members but its time for a break and something new.

So here we go with Case File 244

Here is the case file:

My Evidence used was:

* Christmas/ Winter
* Wood / Woodgrain
* Trees
* Ribbons / Buttons

My Testimony used:

* Document Christmas

Now for some close ups:

I used Kaisercraft Christmas Basecoat for this layout.

I love this Tim Holtz Tinsel, I have been hoarding for years and used it with small wooden pegs to 'hang' my photo from.
I then added buttons to it to decorate.

The design of this layout is based on layers, lots of torn layers, using the colour scheme from the case file and fussy cut elements pine tree elements for the 'tree' part of the Case File.

We're so excited to have eight generous sponsors this month! Our sponsors are among the best in the crafting industry, offering unique and trendy products.

                             We trust we've left enough clues for you to solve the case!
The deadline for completing this Case File is Sunday, December 31, at 11:59 p.m. EST. Be sure to link your layout using the link tool in the sidebar in the CSI blog, and mention the Evidence and Testimony clues you used. Also, please title your link with your name and country.

Let's Get Sketchy Design Team

Hello all,

So here we are nearly at Christmas, and the end of another year.
I am no where near ready for Christmas, I fear there will be a last minute rush in our household to be ready in time!

The latest challenge at Lets get Sketchy is the final sketch challenge of the year
and it also is the last challenge for me on the Lets Get Sketchy Design Team.
My term has come to an end but the challenges still go on with a few new members to the Design Team with remaining ladies.

Here is my layout for the December 15th challenge!

Here is the sketch:

Below are some close ups.....

The close up of the flower cluster using the Holly piece and the pine cones.

I used Blue Fern Studios paper collection  Vintage Christmas 1.

The frame around the 3 edges is fussy cut from another paper glued onto my chosen background paper.

The torn papers follow the sketch triangle corners from another 12x12 paper from the same collection.

I added a small torn piece under the frame at the top to balance the design in 'the rule of three'

I added some gold stickles glitter glue to the berries on the Wycinanka laser cut chipboard to add the final little sparkle needed on a Christmas layout!

And the stickles was used on the candles too!

This month's sponsor is the wonderful SEI Crafts!
SEI was founded in 1979 originally as Sew Easy Industries with roots in sewing in fabric. Over the years the craft market has changed. But, iron-on transfers, tie-dye, clear elastic, and paper-crafting supplies remain SEI’s flagship products. Many items are manufactured in their Logan, Utah facility enabling quick turnaround times and personalized customer service.

Please pop on over to SEI and check out all the goodies they have to offer you!

CSi - Color Stories Inspiration #243

Hello all and a happy December 1st to you!

I'm back with the first of the Decembers CSI- Color, Stories Inspiration case files for you to solve.

Here is the December 1st case File

Here is how I solved the case file

My evidence used:

* Christmas winter elements
* wood, silver - chipboard snowflakes & silver stickles, glitter, thread
* ribbon/ string - silver thread
* circular elements - background stencilling
* something fuzzy - white gauze material
* glitter - Stampendous Silver Halo glitter mix

My Testimony used:

* Tuck your story inside something -journaling is tucked away behind the photo on a tag.

Now for some details:

The background paper is two different papers from BoBunny Snowfall collection and Powder Mountain collection, 6" of one and 6" of another stuck on a 12x12 cardstock.
The background has texture paste through a stencil to create the circular elements.
I then swept some green paint over the papers and texture paste randomly with  brush.

The photos are layered up on corrugated blue card from Fancy Pants. I tore the oblongs to fit my photos with some card showing to keep the shabby feel to the elements. These layers are then popped up on some cardboard to lift off of the background paper.

The Wycinanka laser cut chipboard snowflakes I left plain. These are quite white in their raw state so are perfect for snowy/ white themed pages. All I did was add some silver stickles glitter glue to parts of the to make them sparkle.

Behind the paper layers I pushed some of the white gauze material to give a soft flowing feel of snow to the layout.

I cut some long lengths of silver embroidery thread and dropped and dangled it over the embellishments.

The beautiful Prima Marketing flowers were simply placed under and over the layers and then had a little silver glitter added to them

The finishing touches were the large white seed beads dropped around the flowers and embellishments and then the Silver Halo glitter scattered around to. This glitter is fabulous for mixed media because it has glitter pieces of different sizes in its mix with gives a wonderful effect when large amounts a left to drift across places on a layout.

Lastly a few Stickles glitter dots around the design and a little paint round the paper edges and its done!

                               We trust we've left enough clues for you to solve the case!

1st December Let's Get Sketchy

It's December!

Welcome to the December sketch challenges for Let's Get Sketchy!

Here is my DT layout for your inspiration!

Here is the Dec 1st sketch....

I turned the sketch 90 degrees and used my torn paper layers vertically and my photo moved to be over the top of the layers.

I used Blue Fern Studio paper Collection Amber and Apricot for this layout. I used 3 different papers for the torn layers.

I have used Prima Flowers from the Amber Moon collection with the Amber Moon Ephemera collection. I used 2 sets of chipboards, one from the Blue Fern Studio Amber and Apricot collection and one from the Prima Amber Moon collection. I used lace ribbon and some gold string tied up in the flower embellishments.

I love the chipboard leaves from Amber Moon! The sequins are also in with the Prima ephemera set.

The bigger border and banner chipboard pieces are the BFS chipboards.
