More May challenges

Hello all!

Phew!! What a busy week its been! I haven't had time to do any scrapbooking all week! I've been so busy with work, the kids extra activities and an extra job I've been doing this week, and a tennis tournament with my daughter too, which was very successful for her!

This layout I created last weekend  and have only just got around to editing the photos of it today!

I chose to do a mixed media layout for these challenges.

I chose the line was '3+patterned paper - Tickets - Vellum' from the  Tic Tac Toc challenge board.

In this photo you can see 3 patterned papers, the tags, the background script paper and the stripe paper.

On my background paper I started off with mists, the navy Perfect pearls mist and the beige color bloom mist. I use the netting stamp with coffee archival ink randomly over the design area. I also used a stencil with some distress grit paste (you could use texture paste instead) again randomly over the design area. The 'be happy' was covered with Picket Fence paint dabber.

I wanted to create a beachy effect with my mixed media. I first started with the 3d balls for a pebble look. These were adhered with some gel medium. The Flower Soft Ultra Fine Sand is absolutely perfect for beach themes! I looks just like sand. Use a glue/gel medium on your layout and then sprinkle over the top and shake the excess off (like you would with glitter). The frantage fragments added to the pebbly look.

I used the tickets that are part of the Pion Seashore collection and inked the edges with the Farmers Jeans ink pad. I used real shells on the layout we collected from the beach.

The little pegs I liked as an extra little feature. The arrows I simply 'painted' with the Navy perfect Pearls mist. You can also see that I used some jute weave tucked under the photo mount and layers and worked the mixed media in top.

The vellum was incorporated into the layout with these rosettes made with a Tim Holtz die. this vellum had a black pattern on it which matched the string on the tags.

All my paper layers were inked with the Farmers Jeans ink pad. The photo and the photo mount I cut using some x-cut nesting dies. I liked the effect of cutting the photo out with the die as well, although a little worrying putting your photo through the die cutter!

So the gorgeous young man in the photo (forgive me for being very biased!) is my DS and one of our fabulous days at the beach with Granny and Grandad in Pembrokeshire. It wasn't till after I had took the photos for the blog that I realised I hadn't put my journaling on it, Rest assured I have now done that! This is at Sandy Haven where we can also watch the Irish ferry come and go in and out of Port from Ireland to Pembroke Dock.

** Swirlydoos 1st Reveal July Kit with Ginny **

Hello All,

What can I say?! This kit is gorgeous and full of my favourite colour combos, what a fabulous kit to start my DT off at Swirlydoos! These gorgeous papers from Pion and Kaisercraft are full of inspiration and can be used in so many ways as our fabulous DT will be showing you over this week.

Sketch challenge

I'm starting off with the Sketch Challenge which runs till the 31st of August. Anyone can enter and it doesn't have to be using Swirlydoos kits, so come on over to the challenges on the forum and join in!

I adored this Pion paper 'Mr Tom's Treasures' collection, so pretty, so I kept this layout quite 'clean'. A little texture paste using a 'Doily' stencil from Prima in the background and a Spellbinders die for the swirls. This layout was made entirely from the Main Kit this month, I even used one of the Kaisercraft packaging tags as they were this gorgeous teal colour that matched the kit perfectly!

All That Flutters Challenge

This is one of my favourite challenges on the Swirlydoos forum. You just create a layout and as long as it has something on the layout that has wings/ can fly its job done! So come on....butterflies, bees, fairies.....

As you can see I used the 'butterfly ribbon' and a fussy cut butterfly from the Pion papers for my 'fluttering' element. This layout is made with the Kaisercraft papers. I used two different papers, did some tearing up of both and used both sides of one sheet and bits of the other. I layered in some of the pale blue lace. I used some of the Art Alchemy blue paint from the Mediums kit spread on in tiny strokes with one of the Finnabair paint brushes applicator ends. The leaves are cut using my new 'fav' die , that I borrowed from my Mum, its a Sue Wilson die, another item on 'the list'!

Shadow Box - Project Kit

I LOVE 'Off the Page' projects (OTP)  I can get so carried away with them and I am rapidly running out of space for them all in my house as I like to keep them all!! I think my Mum is going to have to have  a collection soon! Swirlydoos kits have a Technique/Project Kit Add on every month with a wide variety and fun projects to do! This month we had a Shadow Box - right up my street!

I have done a Snapguide  tutorial of the making of this project using some of the Pion Papers and a piece of cardstock from the Cardstock Add on.

Layout - Family

This layout I have used the Kaisercraft Storybook papers but used the 'browns'. It is one piece of PP (pattered paper) with the middle cut out and turned over and placed back in the  hole and mounted onto cardstock, with lace layered up in the cut line. I used a lot of the Storybook ephemera in my layers and the 'Atlas' ribbon dabbed with Walnut Stain Distress Stain and crumpled up and dried to distress it.

Wedding Album

Hi All,

I have been so excited to show you this project. It has been complete for a couple of weeks but had to be kept secret until after the wedding on the 24th!!

I LOVE doing wedding albums, this not being the first. I like to create a blank canvas for the bride and groom to add their favourite photo's of their day with places within the album to add some journaling and memorabilia of their day. There are tags all through the album to pull out and write on and a pocket on the inside back cover to put those leaflets we all keep from reception venues etc.

I used a blank BoBunny chipboard album and covered it using Pion Papers Vintage Wedding, which are just gorgeous!! These papers matched the brief so perfectly with the green in the collection matching the colour of the bridesmaids dresses and keeping to a Shabby Chic style.
There were lots of other gorgeous  goodies used from my stash  including loads of flowers, lace, hessian, pearl swirls and die cut flourishes, Prima Junkyard findings, Prima butterflies, some lovely pearl wirework, craft tags and sweet envelopes, craft heart tags, Antique Linen Distress Ink, heart/love wire paper clips ( love those ), Martha Stewart Photo corner punch, white pen, vellum page protection inserts, thread and doilies. The Pion papers in this collection also have lovely pages of elements to cut out and use as embellishments, I especially love the verses that I have added and the gorgeous vintage bride.

I have loads of photos of this album, so I will leave you to browse through them, enjoy!!
